The European launch of AcuScreen PRO 2.0 follows an extremely successful pilot in Germany and highly positive feedback at a number of international medical trade shows including the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and the European Society of Radiology’s (ESR) 2007 meetings. More than 150 AcuScreen PRO systems have been sold during the pilot phase.
The AcuScreen PRO 2.0 solution will be on show at the Canon booth (N48) at ISE 2008 to enable distributors, system integrators and end-users to get a full understanding of the solution.
“AcuScreen PRO 2.0 is the latest in a series of successful collaborations between Canon and specialist development partners,” said Julian Rutland, European Business Development Manager, Canon Consumer Imaging Europe. “We are proud that Larivière chose to incorporate our XEED projectors into their system, and were pleased to offer them technical support throughout the development process. We look forward to ongoing success, as together we bring AcuScreen PRO 2.0 to the whole European medical market.”
Advanced DICOM 14 calibration for medical imaging
Larivière’s AcuScreen PRO 2.0 is a combination of software, hardware, a customized optical interface, a Matrox TheatreVUE projection controller board (optional) and a Canon XEED SXGA+ projector. AcuScreen PRO 2.0 meets the DICOM Part 14 medical calibration standard. Using a patented sensor, the system takes into account the ambient light conditions and gain factor of the screen, creates the optimum calibration, and then downloads that calibation to the internal look-up tables of the projector. For less-demanding installations XEED projectors can be provided with a preset DICOM 14 calibration.
“Larivière chose to work with Canon on the development of AcuScreen PRO 2.0 not just because of the exceptional image quality offered by the high resolution LCOS technology, but also due to the competitive positioning of the XEED products as well as the high level of technical support,“ said Michael Beaugrand, Sales Manager for Larivière. He continued: ”What makes this solution so appealing is that each customer can have their own unique combination for each environment. This ensures that perfectly accurate greyscale X-ray images are achieved in every medical projection environment.”
A commitment to collaboration
The full European launch of AcuScreen PRO 2.0 marks another milestone in Canon’s ongoing collaborations with specialist imaging companies. As a leading supplier of high quality imaging technologies, Canon seeks to work with partners to develop mutually beneficial relationships, bringing innovative specialist products to their widest possible market.
