Canon strengthens position in Nordic security market with new VB-C60

Amstelveen, The Netherlands, 30 September, 2008: Canon today announces the European debut of its new Network Camera VB-C60 / VB-C60(B). A pan/tilt model featuring an industry-leading 40x optical zoom lens with Image Stabilizer, the VB-C60 harnesses Canon’s unmatched optical heritage to deliver exacting image quality.

The camera will be launched at Skydd – Scandinavia’s number 1 trade fair for security products, held in Stockholm – at the booth of Prio Security AB, Canon’s newly-confirmed Swedish distribution partner. It will be featured alongside a full range of other Canon Network Camera products.

Designed primarily for security monitoring purposes, the VB-C60 is ideally suited to video surveillance applications in retail, educational, commercial, public transport, manufacturing and industrial markets.

  • A progressive-scan CCD sensor delivers low-noise, high quality capture of moving subjects at up to 640 x 480 pixels
  • Both Motion JPEG and MPEG4 compression formats are supported, at up to 30 frames per second
  • Camera Shade Correction offers dynamic contrast adjustment, for clearer imaging when dark subjects appear against bright backgrounds
  • A new Image Stabilizer combats the blur that can occur when the camera is mounted on a ceiling or pole
  • Colour Video can be captured in low light levels of just 0.7 lux, while a Day/Night function can be set to automatically switch from colour to monochrome recording when light levels fall further
  • Canon’s newly developed DIGIC NET Imaging Engine, for total flexibility in managing footage
  • A choice of optional smoked and clear Indoor Dome housings, plus black or silver Ceiling Mount Covers, ensures that the VB-C60 blends neatly into a wide range of environments

“The VB-C60 exemplifies the benefits offered by Canon Network Camera products,” said Stefan Uveskog, Managing Director of Prio Security. “Alongside versatility and easy network integration, it offers the most crucial thing a security camera can have: high-quality imaging.”
